Bespoke-Joinery.uk makes timber joinery to measure for homes across the UK. Fitted storage, kitchens, staircases, doors and windows, panelling and garden structures — surveyed, drawn, built in the workshop and fitted by the same team.
Why bespoke, and why it costs what it costs
A flat-pack wardrobe is built to a size that suits a warehouse. A room is not. Ceilings run out, walls lean, floors fall away and chimney breasts are never the width you would like them to be. Bespoke joinery starts from the opposite end: the space is measured, the piece is drawn to that measurement, and the timber is cut once.
That is more work, and it costs more than flat pack. What you get for it is a piece that uses the full height of the room, sits tight to walls that are not straight, and is built from materials chosen for the job rather than for shipping weight.
How we are set up
Survey, drawings, workshop and fitting all sit with one team. Nothing is subcontracted to a fitter who has never seen the drawing, which is the usual reason a bespoke job ends up packed out with filler strips. The person who measured your room is accountable for the piece that goes into it.
Materials
We work in tulipwood, oak, ash, walnut, birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF depending on what the piece has to do. Paint-grade work is sprayed in a booth, not brushed on site. Timber is sourced from FSC-certified suppliers, and offcuts go back into smaller components rather than into a skip.
Guarantee
Ten years on workmanship, on everything we fit. Hardware carries its manufacturer's warranty, which on the soft-close gear we specify is usually lifetime.

Common questions
How long does a bespoke job take from order to fitting?
Most fitted furniture runs four to eight weeks from approved drawings to fitting day. Kitchens, staircases and timber windows are longer at eight to fourteen weeks because the components are larger and the finishing schedule is longer. We give you a date band at quotation and confirm the fitting week once the drawings are signed off.
Do you charge for the survey and drawings?
The measured survey and the quotation are free. If you want fully detailed manufacturing drawings or a 3D visual before committing, that is chargeable and the fee comes off the job if you proceed.
Is bespoke joinery more expensive than a fitted furniture chain?
On a like-for-like specification it is usually comparable, and often less. Chains price a standard carcass and then charge for every deviation. A bespoke maker prices the actual room once. Where bespoke does cost more is in the materials — solid hardwood and sprayed finishes cost more than foil-wrapped board, and they last a great deal longer.
Can you match existing joinery in the house?
Yes. We take a profile of the existing skirting, architrave or door and either match it from stock cutters or have a cutter ground so the new work runs identically. Matching an old paint colour is straightforward; matching aged oak takes a sample panel and a couple of attempts, which we build into the programme.
Do I need to empty the room before you fit?
Clear the working wall and anything fragile. We bring dust sheets and a vacuum-extracted saw, but fitting makes dust and we would rather your furniture was out of the way. For kitchens we will agree a sequence with you so you keep a sink and a kettle for as long as possible.
What guarantee do you give?
Ten years on workmanship. Hardware carries the manufacturer's warranty, which on good runners and hinges is usually lifetime. Finishes are guaranteed for five years against flaking or delamination in normal domestic use.
Do you work with architects and builders?
Regularly. We can work to your drawings and specification, price from a schedule, and co-ordinate with the main contractor's programme. We are equally happy dealing directly with a homeowner from a rough sketch.
How do I pay, and when?
A deposit at order to cover materials, a stage payment when the work leaves the workshop, and the balance on completion after you have inspected the fit. Everything is written into the quotation before you commit.
