How we build it
Timber is chosen for the room it is going into. Painted work is built in tulipwood and moisture-resistant MDF because they hold a crisp arris and take a sprayed finish without grain rise. Where the grain is meant to be seen we use European oak, walnut or ash, with veneers laid so the figure runs continuously across a set of doors.
Finish and materials
Finishing happens in the workshop wherever possible. Sprayed paint gives an even film that brushwork cannot match, and the only work left on site is the final touch-in around scribes and fixings.

Do the windows come painted?
They can come primed for your decorator, or fully finished in the workshop in any colour. Factory finishing is far more durable — the coating is applied to all six faces including the ones you cannot reach once fitted.
What is the difference between flush and stormproof casements?
A flush casement sits within the frame so the face is level — it is the traditional look and correct for period and conservation work. A stormproof casement overlaps the frame with a weathered lip, which sheds water better and is a mid-century onwards detail.
Can you match the existing opening pattern?
Yes, and in a period property you should. Which lights open, where the mullions fall and how many panes there are is what makes the elevation read correctly.
Will they meet current building regulations?
Yes. We specify glazing and frames to the required U-value, provide trickle ventilation where the regulations call for it, and size at least one light per habitable room for means of escape where needed.
Do I need to empty the room before you fit?
Clear the working wall and anything fragile. We bring dust sheets and a vacuum-extracted saw, but fitting makes dust and we would rather your furniture was out of the way. For kitchens we will agree a sequence with you so you keep a sink and a kettle for as long as possible.
