Devon is a county of cob and stone cottages, Georgian terraces in the cities and steep coastal conversions. That is exactly the kind of building stock a set of console brackets has to be drawn around, so we allow for it at survey stage rather than on fitting day — walls get checked for wind and plumb, floors for level, and the setting-out is taken from the worst reading, not the best.
How we approach it
Off-the-shelf units are made to standard sizes and then filled out with scribe strips. Our set of console brackets work is cut to the dimensions taken from your Devon property, so there is no packing, no filler and no gap that opens up in year two.
How we build it
Hardware is specified to the weight it is carrying, not to a price point. Soft-close runners are rated for the drawer load, hinges are adjustable in three planes, and sliding gear is sized so a full-height door still moves with one finger a decade later.
Finish and materials
You can have it primed for your own decorator, sprayed in any RAL or heritage colour, or left in oiled timber. Oiled finishes can be refreshed at home; sprayed finishes are harder wearing and are what we recommend for kitchens and anything at knee height.

Straight answers
Console Brackets & Corbels in Devon — common questions
What is a console bracket?
The scrolled bracket at the top of each pilaster where it meets the fascia. Structurally it is trim; visually it is the detail that separates a considered frontage from a flat one.
Can you copy an existing bracket?
Yes. If one survives we take it off, template it and reproduce the pair. If none survives we work from photographs of the terrace and match the local pattern.
Do they need separate consent?
Not usually on their own, but on a listed building they form part of the approved elevation, so the profile matters to the officer.
Do they serve any function?
They mask the joint between the pilaster and the fascia and throw a little water clear of it. Mostly, though, they exist because the eye expects the vertical to terminate in something.
How long does a bespoke job take from order to fitting?
Most fitted furniture runs four to eight weeks from approved drawings to fitting day. Kitchens, staircases and timber windows are longer at eight to fourteen weeks because the components are larger and the finishing schedule is longer. We give you a date band at quotation and confirm the fitting week once the drawings are signed off.
