Hardwood Doors in Flintshire

Entrance and internal doors in solid hardwood, hung in matching frames.

Flintshire is a county of brick and rendered village housing with extensive modern development. That is exactly the kind of building stock a hardwood door has to be drawn around, so we allow for it at survey stage rather than on fitting day — walls get checked for wind and plumb, floors for level, and the setting-out is taken from the worst reading, not the best.

How we approach it

We build hardwood doors as cabinetmakers rather than fitters: machined joints, real carcass construction, and a finish applied under workshop conditions before anything reaches your Flintshire address.

How we build it

Hardware is specified to the weight it is carrying, not to a price point. Soft-close runners are rated for the drawer load, hinges are adjustable in three planes, and sliding gear is sized so a full-height door still moves with one finger a decade later.

Finish and materials

You can have it primed for your own decorator, sprayed in any RAL or heritage colour, or left in oiled timber. Oiled finishes can be refreshed at home; sprayed finishes are harder wearing and are what we recommend for kitchens and anything at knee height.

Straight answers

Hardwood Doors in Flintshire — common questions

Can you match existing doors in a house?

Yes. We take the panel layout, the moulding profile and the stile widths off an original so a replacement reads as part of the set rather than a substitution.

Are hardwood doors fire rated?

FD30 and FD60 doorsets are available but must be built as a certified assembly — door, frame, intumescent and ironmongery tested together. A hardwood door with a strip added afterwards is not rated.

Can you make a curved or arched door?

Yes, with a laminated head to match the opening. See our hardwood arches for how the curve is formed.

Which hardwood for an external door?

Accoya or iroko facing weather, oak where the building calls for it. South and west elevations take the most punishment and justify the more stable option.

How long does a bespoke job take from order to fitting?

Most fitted furniture runs four to eight weeks from approved drawings to fitting day. Kitchens, staircases and timber windows are longer at eight to fourteen weeks because the components are larger and the finishing schedule is longer. We give you a date band at quotation and confirm the fitting week once the drawings are signed off.
