Staffordshire is a county of potteries terraced housing, brick farmhouses and large post-war estates. That is exactly the kind of building stock a hardwood floor has to be drawn around, so we allow for it at survey stage rather than on fitting day — walls get checked for wind and plumb, floors for level, and the setting-out is taken from the worst reading, not the best.

We build hardwood flooring as cabinetmakers rather than fitters: machined joints, real carcass construction, and a finish applied under workshop conditions before anything reaches your Staffordshire address.
How we build it
Timber is chosen for the room it is going into. Painted work is built in tulipwood and moisture-resistant MDF because they hold a crisp arris and take a sprayed finish without grain rise. Where the grain is meant to be seen we use European oak, walnut or ash, with veneers laid so the figure runs continuously across a set of doors.
Finish and materials
You can have it primed for your own decorator, sprayed in any RAL or heritage colour, or left in oiled timber. Oiled finishes can be refreshed at home; sprayed finishes are harder wearing and are what we recommend for kitchens and anything at knee height.

Can it go over underfloor heating?
Engineered, yes, with a maximum surface temperature and a slow commissioning cycle. Solid boards over underfloor heating will gap in winter, however carefully they are laid.
Does it need acclimatising?
Yes, in the room it is going into, at the humidity it will live at. Boards laid straight off a cold van will move once the heating goes on.
Can it be sanded later?
Solid can be sanded several times. Engineered depends on the wear layer — a 4mm or 6mm layer can take two or three sandings, a 2mm layer realistically one.
Can you match existing boards?
We can match species, width and finish closely. Exact colour is harder, because an existing floor has aged. Feathering the new into the old across a threshold usually reads better than a hard junction.
Is bespoke joinery more expensive than a fitted furniture chain?
On a like-for-like specification it is usually comparable, and often less. Chains price a standard carcass and then charge for every deviation. A bespoke maker prices the actual room once. Where bespoke does cost more is in the materials — solid hardwood and sprayed finishes cost more than foil-wrapped board, and they last a great deal longer.
