Berkshire is a county of riverside Victorian villas and a large stock of 1980s onwards executive housing. That is exactly the kind of building stock a fitted home office has to be drawn around, so we allow for it at survey stage rather than on fitting day — walls get checked for wind and plumb, floors for level, and the setting-out is taken from the worst reading, not the best.
How we approach it
A fitted home office is a permanent part of the building, so it is worth setting out properly. We take the survey, agree the drawings, machine the parts in the workshop and fit in Berkshire in one visit wherever the programme allows.
How we build it
Timber is chosen for the room it is going into. Painted work is built in tulipwood and moisture-resistant MDF because they hold a crisp arris and take a sprayed finish without grain rise. Where the grain is meant to be seen we use European oak, walnut or ash, with veneers laid so the figure runs continuously across a set of doors.
Finish and materials
You can have it primed for your own decorator, sprayed in any RAL or heritage colour, or left in oiled timber. Oiled finishes can be refreshed at home; sprayed finishes are harder wearing and are what we recommend for kitchens and anything at knee height.

740mm to 750mm suits most people in a normal chair. If you want a sit-stand position, we build the run around a proprietary electric frame rather than making the top fixed.
What lighting works for a home office?
Light from the side rather than behind or in front, plus a task lamp. A window directly behind the screen causes glare; directly in front causes silhouetting on video calls.
Can it be closed away when not in use?
Yes — bifold or pocket doors over the whole run turn it back into a cupboard at the end of the day. It is the single most requested feature in home office work now.
Can two people work in the same run?
Yes, with 1,400mm per person as a working minimum. Facing each other across a shared worktop needs a monitor screen between or you will spend the day looking at each other.
How do I pay, and when?
A deposit at order to cover materials, a stage payment when the work leaves the workshop, and the balance on completion after you have inspected the fit. Everything is written into the quotation before you commit.
