Cheshire is a county of black-and-white revival houses, Georgian Chester stock and large executive estates. That is exactly the kind of building stock a set of internal doors has to be drawn around, so we allow for it at survey stage rather than on fitting day — walls get checked for wind and plumb, floors for level, and the setting-out is taken from the worst reading, not the best.
How we approach it
Off-the-shelf units are made to standard sizes and then filled out with scribe strips. Our set of internal doors work is cut to the dimensions taken from your Cheshire property, so there is no packing, no filler and no gap that opens up in year two.
How we build it
Carcass work is birch ply or MR MDF depending on span and load. Face frames and doors are solid hardwood. Everything is machined on the same setting so stiles, rails and reveals line through, and shadow gaps stay parallel from one end of the run to the other.
Finish and materials
You can have it primed for your own decorator, sprayed in any RAL or heritage colour, or left in oiled timber. Oiled finishes can be refreshed at home; sprayed finishes are harder wearing and are what we recommend for kitchens and anything at knee height.

Can a door be glazed?
Yes. Obscure or clear glazing into a moulded frame. Any glass in a door below 1,500mm from floor level must be safety glass to Part N — we specify it as standard.
How much bigger than the opening should the door be?
The door is made to the frame, not the opening. We survey the frame, check it for square and wind, and make the door to suit with a 3mm gap on the sides and top and a floor gap to match your finished flooring.
Why not just buy a standard door?
If your opening matches a stock size, do. Period houses rarely do — original openings are frequently 30 to 80mm off any standard, and cutting a stock door down that far removes the stile and weakens it.
Do bespoke doors have to be solid timber?
No, and often they should not be. An engineered core with a solid hardwood lipping and a veneered or paint-grade face is far more stable across a heated house than solid timber, and it will not twist.
Do you charge for the survey and drawings?
The measured survey and the quotation are free. If you want fully detailed manufacturing drawings or a 3D visual before committing, that is chargeable and the fee comes off the job if you proceed.
