Essex is a county of timber-framed cottages inland and interwar and modern estates along the Thames corridor. That is exactly the kind of building stock a set of mouldings has to be drawn around, so we allow for it at survey stage rather than on fitting day — walls get checked for wind and plumb, floors for level, and the setting-out is taken from the worst reading, not the best.
How we approach it
Walls in Essex are rarely square and floors are rarely level. A set of mouldings that is built in a workshop to a nominal size will show every millimetre of that. We survey first, scribe on site, and finish so the joint line disappears.
How we build it
Hardware is specified to the weight it is carrying, not to a price point. Soft-close runners are rated for the drawer load, hinges are adjustable in three planes, and sliding gear is sized so a full-height door still moves with one finger a decade later.
Finish and materials
Finishing happens in the workshop wherever possible. Sprayed paint gives an even film that brushwork cannot match, and the only work left on site is the final touch-in around scribes and fixings.

Can you supply long lengths without joints?
Up to 4.2m in MDF and around 3m in solid timber as standard. Beyond that we scarf-joint rather than butt, so the joint closes invisibly under paint.
What height should skirting be?
It should relate to the ceiling. In a 2.4m room, 145mm to 170mm looks right. In a 3m Victorian room, 220mm and above. Skirting that is too short is the commonest mistake in a period refurbishment.
Do you fit or supply only?
Either. Supply-only is straightforward for a competent joiner or a confident DIYer. We fit where the mitres are complex, the walls are out, or the profile is large enough that a bad joint would show.
Can you run picture rails and coving too?
Timber and MDF picture rails and dado rails, yes. Plaster coving and cornice is a plasterer's trade and we work alongside them rather than supplying it.
How do I pay, and when?
A deposit at order to cover materials, a stage payment when the work leaves the workshop, and the balance on completion after you have inspected the fit. Everything is written into the quotation before you commit.
