How we build it
Carcass work is birch ply or MR MDF depending on span and load. Face frames and doors are solid hardwood. Everything is machined on the same setting so stiles, rails and reveals line through, and shadow gaps stay parallel from one end of the run to the other.
Finish and materials
You can have it primed for your own decorator, sprayed in any RAL or heritage colour, or left in oiled timber. Oiled finishes can be refreshed at home; sprayed finishes are harder wearing and are what we recommend for kitchens and anything at knee height.

How draughty will they be?
A new sash with brush seals in the meeting rail, staff bead and parting bead is not draughty at all. The draught in an old sash comes from a worn rebate, not from the design.
Can you match the original glazing bars?
Yes. We match the bar width and profile from the original. With double glazing, a true divided bar with individual small units is the authentic route; a bonded bar with a spacer inside is far cheaper and reads correctly from the street.
Is it cheaper to repair the existing sashes?
Very often, yes — see our sash window restoration service. If the boxes are sound and only the sills and bottom rails have gone, repair is usually the better value and keeps the original glass.
Do I need planning permission or listed building consent?
In a conservation area, replacing windows usually needs permission and the replacement must match the original. In a listed building you will need listed building consent. We can supply drawings and a specification to support an application.
What guarantee do you give?
Ten years on workmanship. Hardware carries the manufacturer's warranty, which on good runners and hinges is usually lifetime. Finishes are guaranteed for five years against flaking or delamination in normal domestic use.
