Surrey is a county of 1930s semis, Arts and Crafts detached houses and a steady flow of new-build estates. That is exactly the kind of building stock a shopfront fascia has to be drawn around, so we allow for it at survey stage rather than on fitting day — walls get checked for wind and plumb, floors for level, and the setting-out is taken from the worst reading, not the best.
How we approach it
Off-the-shelf units are made to standard sizes and then filled out with scribe strips. Our shopfront fascia work is cut to the dimensions taken from your Surrey property, so there is no packing, no filler and no gap that opens up in year two.
How we build it
Moisture matters more than most people expect. Timber is conditioned before machining, and anything going into a kitchen, utility or bathroom is specified in materials that will not swell at the bottom edge. That is why the base of a well-made unit still closes cleanly after five winters.
Finish and materials
Every finished job gets a short handover: what the surface is, how to clean it, and how to adjust a hinge if a door drops after the heating has been on for a season. Adjustment is normal in timber and takes about two minutes once you know which screw to turn.

Straight answers
Fascias & Signboards in Surrey — common questions
What is the cornice for?
It throws water off the face of the fascia. Remove it and the signboard gets a permanent wet stripe. On a period frontage it is also the element that ties the shopfront to the building above.
What timber for a painted fascia?
Accoya. It holds paint far longer than softwood because it barely moves with humidity, and paint failure on a fascia is almost always the substrate moving underneath it.
How is the fascia ventilated?
We leave a drained and ventilated cavity behind the board so any moisture that gets past the front face can dry. Sealing a fascia tight to the wall traps water against it.
How deep should a fascia be?
Deep enough that the signwriting has margin above and below — typically 350 to 500mm on a standard frontage. A shallow fascia forces cramped lettering and is the most common reason a new shopfront looks wrong.
Do you work with architects and builders?
Regularly. We can work to your drawings and specification, price from a schedule, and co-ordinate with the main contractor's programme. We are equally happy dealing directly with a homeowner from a rough sketch.
