Rutland is a county of limestone and Collyweston-slate cottages in tightly conserved villages. That is exactly the kind of building stock a sliding-door wardrobe has to be drawn around, so we allow for it at survey stage rather than on fitting day — walls get checked for wind and plumb, floors for level, and the setting-out is taken from the worst reading, not the best.
How we approach it
A sliding-door wardrobe is a permanent part of the building, so it is worth setting out properly. We take the survey, agree the drawings, machine the parts in the workshop and fit in Rutland in one visit wherever the programme allows.
How we build it
Hardware is specified to the weight it is carrying, not to a price point. Soft-close runners are rated for the drawer load, hinges are adjustable in three planes, and sliding gear is sized so a full-height door still moves with one finger a decade later.
Finish and materials
You can have it primed for your own decorator, sprayed in any RAL or heritage colour, or left in oiled timber. Oiled finishes can be refreshed at home; sprayed finishes are harder wearing and are what we recommend for kitchens and anything at knee height.

Straight answers
Sliding Door Wardrobes in Rutland — common questions
What can the door panels be made from?
Mirror, painted glass, veneered panel, painted MDF, or a framed combination of two or three. Mirror adds a lot of weight, so the gear is sized accordingly.
Can I have three doors instead of two?
Yes. Three doors on a two-track system means one bay is always covered. Three tracks gives you access to any two bays at once but pushes the carcass deeper.
How heavy can a sliding door be?
Standard domestic gear handles up to about 80kg per leaf. A full-height mirrored door can reach that on its own, which is why we specify the gear after the panel material is chosen, not before.
How much space do sliding doors take up inside?
The top track and bottom guide take roughly 100mm off the internal depth. On a 650mm carcass that still leaves comfortable square hanging; on a 550mm carcass it does not, so we would recommend hinged doors instead.
How long does a bespoke job take from order to fitting?
Most fitted furniture runs four to eight weeks from approved drawings to fitting day. Kitchens, staircases and timber windows are longer at eight to fourteen weeks because the components are larger and the finishing schedule is longer. We give you a date band at quotation and confirm the fitting week once the drawings are signed off.
