Belfast is a county of red-brick Victorian terraces and generous interwar suburban housing. That is exactly the kind of building stock a run of wall panelling has to be drawn around, so we allow for it at survey stage rather than on fitting day — walls get checked for wind and plumb, floors for level, and the setting-out is taken from the worst reading, not the best.
How we approach it
Walls in Belfast are rarely square and floors are rarely level. A run of wall panelling that is built in a workshop to a nominal size will show every millimetre of that. We survey first, scribe on site, and finish so the joint line disappears.
How we build it
Hardware is specified to the weight it is carrying, not to a price point. Soft-close runners are rated for the drawer load, hinges are adjustable in three planes, and sliding gear is sized so a full-height door still moves with one finger a decade later.
Finish and materials
You can have it primed for your own decorator, sprayed in any RAL or heritage colour, or left in oiled timber. Oiled finishes can be refreshed at home; sprayed finishes are harder wearing and are what we recommend for kitchens and anything at knee height.

Can sockets and switches stay where they are?
They need extending forward by the panel thickness with a spacer collar — a small electrical job. We mark the positions and cut the apertures to suit.
How high should panelling go?
Dado height at roughly one third of the wall — usually 900mm to 1,100mm — for a traditional room. Full height for drama in a hallway or behind a bed. Two thirds height reads awkward and is worth avoiding.
Can panelling go over a chimney breast or around a radiator?
Yes. Setting out is the whole job here — the panel widths are calculated so the divisions land sensibly either side of features rather than a half panel appearing at a corner.
Does it need to be painted on site?
Panelling is usually installed primed and painted in place, because the fixing and filling has to happen first. We can supply it sprayed if a decorator is doing a cut-in only.
Is bespoke joinery more expensive than a fitted furniture chain?
On a like-for-like specification it is usually comparable, and often less. Chains price a standard carcass and then charge for every deviation. A bespoke maker prices the actual room once. Where bespoke does cost more is in the materials — solid hardwood and sprayed finishes cost more than foil-wrapped board, and they last a great deal longer.
