Hampshire is a county of Georgian naval-town housing, thatched village cottages and extensive modern estates. That is exactly the kind of building stock a boot room has to be drawn around, so we allow for it at survey stage rather than on fitting day — walls get checked for wind and plumb, floors for level, and the setting-out is taken from the worst reading, not the best.
How we approach it
Off-the-shelf units are made to standard sizes and then filled out with scribe strips. Our boot room work is cut to the dimensions taken from your Hampshire property, so there is no packing, no filler and no gap that opens up in year two.
How we build it
Timber is chosen for the room it is going into. Painted work is built in tulipwood and moisture-resistant MDF because they hold a crisp arris and take a sprayed finish without grain rise. Where the grain is meant to be seen we use European oak, walnut or ash, with veneers laid so the figure runs continuously across a set of doors.
Finish and materials
Every finished job gets a short handover: what the surface is, how to clean it, and how to adjust a hinge if a door drops after the heating has been on for a season. Adjustment is normal in timber and takes about two minutes once you know which screw to turn.

What about dog kit?
A dedicated low cupboard for leads, towels and food, plus a wipe-clean floor area for a bed or a bowl. A pull-out step also helps for washing a muddy dog in a low sink.
Can you include a sink?
Yes, and a deep Belfast is the practical choice. We build the cabinetry and worktop around it; the plumbing connection is a separate trade.
How much hanging space per person?
Allow 300mm of rail or two hooks per person for everyday coats, plus a shared section for the bulky winter items. Families always underestimate this.
What finish survives wet coats and muddy boots?
Sprayed two-pack lacquer on MR MDF, or oiled oak. Standard emulsion or brushed eggshell will mark at knee height within a season.
How do I pay, and when?
A deposit at order to cover materials, a stage payment when the work leaves the workshop, and the balance on completion after you have inspected the fit. Everything is written into the quotation before you commit.
