Warwickshire is a county of timber-framed Tudor cottages, Regency Leamington terraces and modern commuter estates. That is exactly the kind of building stock a run of hardwood worktop has to be drawn around, so we allow for it at survey stage rather than on fitting day — walls get checked for wind and plumb, floors for level, and the setting-out is taken from the worst reading, not the best.
How we approach it
We build hardwood worktops as cabinetmakers rather than fitters: machined joints, real carcass construction, and a finish applied under workshop conditions before anything reaches your Warwickshire address.
How we build it
Moisture matters more than most people expect. Timber is conditioned before machining, and anything going into a kitchen, utility or bathroom is specified in materials that will not swell at the bottom edge. That is why the base of a well-made unit still closes cleanly after five winters.
Finish and materials
You can have it primed for your own decorator, sprayed in any RAL or heritage colour, or left in oiled timber. Oiled finishes can be refreshed at home; sprayed finishes are harder wearing and are what we recommend for kitchens and anything at knee height.

Straight answers
Hardwood Worktops in Warwickshire — common questions
How do I look after it?
Oil it. Frequently at first, then a couple of times a year. An oiled top can be sanded and re-oiled locally, which is why marks are not permanent the way they are on a lacquered top.
Do you template on site?
Yes. Walls are not square and a worktop scribed to a stated dimension will not fit. We template after the units are in, not before.
Can you match an existing run?
If the species and the stave width match, yes — though timber darkens with age and a new section will be lighter for the first year or two.
Which timber for a kitchen worktop?
Oak and iroko are the usual choices. Iroko has natural oils that suit areas near water. Walnut for a darker top, though it is softer and marks more readily.
Do I need to empty the room before you fit?
Clear the working wall and anything fragile. We bring dust sheets and a vacuum-extracted saw, but fitting makes dust and we would rather your furniture was out of the way. For kitchens we will agree a sequence with you so you keep a sink and a kettle for as long as possible.
