Cambridgeshire is a county of college-city Victorian terraces, fen farmhouses and rapid new-build growth. That is exactly the kind of building stock a media wall has to be drawn around, so we allow for it at survey stage rather than on fitting day — walls get checked for wind and plumb, floors for level, and the setting-out is taken from the worst reading, not the best.
How we approach it
Walls in Cambridgeshire are rarely square and floors are rarely level. A media wall that is built in a workshop to a nominal size will show every millimetre of that. We survey first, scribe on site, and finish so the joint line disappears.
How we build it
Timber is chosen for the room it is going into. Painted work is built in tulipwood and moisture-resistant MDF because they hold a crisp arris and take a sprayed finish without grain rise. Where the grain is meant to be seen we use European oak, walnut or ash, with veneers laid so the figure runs continuously across a set of doors.
Finish and materials
You can have it primed for your own decorator, sprayed in any RAL or heritage colour, or left in oiled timber. Oiled finishes can be refreshed at home; sprayed finishes are harder wearing and are what we recommend for kitchens and anything at knee height.

How do you hide the cables?
Conduit inside the carcass from the screen position down to the equipment bay, with brush plates at each end. Mains and data are run separately to avoid interference, and we leave a draw cord in for whatever you add later.
Can you build in a fireplace as well?
Yes. Electric fires are straightforward — they need a power feed and a stated clearance. Anything burning fuel needs a hearth, a flue and a HETAS-registered installer, and the joinery is designed around their requirements, not the other way round.
Can it be free-standing so it moves with us?
A base unit can be. The upper panel and screen surround need fixing to the wall for safety, so a media wall is generally fitted furniture.
Can we run it in oak rather than paint?
Yes. Oak veneer over ply is the usual choice for a large panel because solid oak that wide will move seasonally. The visible edges are lipped in solid so it reads as timber throughout.
How long does a bespoke job take from order to fitting?
Most fitted furniture runs four to eight weeks from approved drawings to fitting day. Kitchens, staircases and timber windows are longer at eight to fourteen weeks because the components are larger and the finishing schedule is longer. We give you a date band at quotation and confirm the fitting week once the drawings are signed off.
