Isle of Man is a county of rendered stone cottages, Victorian promenade terraces and rural farm properties. That is exactly the kind of building stock a set of mouldings has to be drawn around, so we allow for it at survey stage rather than on fitting day — walls get checked for wind and plumb, floors for level, and the setting-out is taken from the worst reading, not the best.
How we approach it
Walls in Isle of Man are rarely square and floors are rarely level. A set of mouldings that is built in a workshop to a nominal size will show every millimetre of that. We survey first, scribe on site, and finish so the joint line disappears.
How we build it
Moisture matters more than most people expect. Timber is conditioned before machining, and anything going into a kitchen, utility or bathroom is specified in materials that will not swell at the bottom edge. That is why the base of a well-made unit still closes cleanly after five winters.
Finish and materials
Every finished job gets a short handover: what the surface is, how to clean it, and how to adjust a hinge if a door drops after the heating has been on for a season. Adjustment is normal in timber and takes about two minutes once you know which screw to turn.

What height should skirting be?
It should relate to the ceiling. In a 2.4m room, 145mm to 170mm looks right. In a 3m Victorian room, 220mm and above. Skirting that is too short is the commonest mistake in a period refurbishment.
Do you fit or supply only?
Either. Supply-only is straightforward for a competent joiner or a confident DIYer. We fit where the mitres are complex, the walls are out, or the profile is large enough that a bad joint would show.
Can you run picture rails and coving too?
Timber and MDF picture rails and dado rails, yes. Plaster coving and cornice is a plasterer's trade and we work alongside them rather than supplying it.
Can you supply long lengths without joints?
Up to 4.2m in MDF and around 3m in solid timber as standard. Beyond that we scarf-joint rather than butt, so the joint closes invisibly under paint.
How long does a bespoke job take from order to fitting?
Most fitted furniture runs four to eight weeks from approved drawings to fitting day. Kitchens, staircases and timber windows are longer at eight to fourteen weeks because the components are larger and the finishing schedule is longer. We give you a date band at quotation and confirm the fitting week once the drawings are signed off.
