Worcestershire is a county of black-and-white timber framing, Georgian riverside houses and new-build market towns. That is exactly the kind of building stock a run of wall panelling has to be drawn around, so we allow for it at survey stage rather than on fitting day — walls get checked for wind and plumb, floors for level, and the setting-out is taken from the worst reading, not the best.
How we approach it
Walls in Worcestershire are rarely square and floors are rarely level. A run of wall panelling that is built in a workshop to a nominal size will show every millimetre of that. We survey first, scribe on site, and finish so the joint line disappears.
How we build it
Carcass work is birch ply or MR MDF depending on span and load. Face frames and doors are solid hardwood. Everything is machined on the same setting so stiles, rails and reveals line through, and shadow gaps stay parallel from one end of the run to the other.
Finish and materials
Every finished job gets a short handover: what the surface is, how to clean it, and how to adjust a hinge if a door drops after the heating has been on for a season. Adjustment is normal in timber and takes about two minutes once you know which screw to turn.

What material do you use?
Moisture-resistant MDF for painted work. It has no grain to raise, takes a crisp arris and will not move. Solid timber panelling is available for a natural finish but needs framing that allows the panels to move.
Will it make the room feel smaller?
It adds 18 to 25mm to the wall, which nobody notices. Visually, painting the panelling the same colour as the wall above makes the room feel larger, not smaller.
Which panelling style suits a modern house?
Board and batten or a simple square shaker grid. Both are geometric and flat, which reads contemporary. Raised and fielded panels look wrong outside a period setting.
Is it fixed to the wall or built as panels?
Both methods work. On a flat wall we fix rails and stiles directly. On an uneven wall a backing board goes on first, which costs a little more but gives a perfectly flat face.
How long does a bespoke job take from order to fitting?
Most fitted furniture runs four to eight weeks from approved drawings to fitting day. Kitchens, staircases and timber windows are longer at eight to fourteen weeks because the components are larger and the finishing schedule is longer.
